Hi, my name is Darrell and I am a hobby 3D artist . I have been working with digital arts for about 8 years and still consider myself pretty much a beginner. The programs I am most familiar with are Daz Studio, Blender and CS4. I am trying to learn Reality-Luxrender and I dabble around in ZBrush - I have all but given up trying to figure out Poser .
As to my style. I enjoy too many different subjects and mediums to want to be pinned down by any limitations that might be imposed by having a style - at least for now. That said, don't be surprised by what you might find in my Deviations.
As to what I find artistic, you'll be able to tell that from my Favorites Gallery - I am pretty eclectic. I love and respect the traditional artists. I have a huge fondness for Comic, Anime and Manga art. Pinup, Goth and Fetish art I also find intriguing - those hidden desires that we all keep locked inside and try not to let others know about. Photography I thought was more about craft than art, but that all changed after seeing a documentary on Dorothea Lange and now I look at photography with a whole new eye and a much deserved respect. You're only as ignorant as the parts of you that you are unwilling to admit and to change - right?
I'd name all of my favorite artists but that list would be endless. At least with my Favorites Gallery I can give kudos to my fellow Deviants that I like. Check them out they are all amazing, I promise.
My other major hobby, far more than digital art, is music. I have been playing drums for almost 38 years and guitar/bass for nearly as long. On the surface I am a metal guy [thrash, goth & symphonic], but I listen to anything from classical to jazz to blues...yes and even some pop & rap. Though I have a strong tendency towards things aggressive, it isn't so much style for me. What is more important is the emotional response that the musicians can get across in their music and I respect anything that has been crafted well and you know the artist has really put in the time to create.
I also love to read Fantasy. Sergei Lukyanenko's Night Watch, George Martin's Song of Ice and Fire, Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time and Barb & JC Hendee's Saga of the Nobel Dead, to name a few. There are tons more. I have to thank the person who invented the Kindle because my home was becoming more library than living space.
What little else there is can be found on my Interest tab.
Hope you enjoy my galleries and thanks for visiting.
